Severe Rheumatoid Arthritis

Sally September PictureSevere Rheumatoid arthritis of the large joints of the hand (MP joints) may result in pain and disability that limits functional use of the hand. MP joint implant arthroplasty: replacement of joints with implants, surgery goal is to correct deformity, reduce pain, and enhance hand functional performance. Enclosed is a picture of Index, long, ring, and small finger MP joints that were replaced with implants.

Atlantic Physical Therapy outpatient occupational therapy clinic in Berlin’s goal is to facilitate return of function in the hand via splint fabrication as needed, range of motion, review of home exercise programs as well as joint protection, and energy conservation. Our goal is to restore use of the hand to be able to return to work, play, and living.
