Caution on the water, boat related hand injury!
A recent patient unfortunately did not tie off the mooring line before boarding his boat. The boat pulled away from the dock leaving the patient straddling between the dock and boat. The patient quickly lunged toward his boat and banged his left hand against the bottom chrome step to the flying bridge. The patient sustained a fracture to the big knuckle of the small finger (MP fx) . Here at Atlantic Physical Therapy outpatient Occupational Therapy Clinic we custom fabricate splints for protective healing followed by a range of motion exercise program to facilitate return back to maximum functional level.
