BERLIN — Atlantic Physical Therapy (APT) will be expanding this year with a new location in Salisbury set to open on Dec. 1. That will be the sixth APT location, a huge leap from when owner Robert Hammond opened his first site in 1998 on Cathell Road in Berlin. But no matter how big Atlantic grows, Hammond promised it will always be a community-oriented business.
There aren’t enough men like Bobby Hammond in these parts, or any other part, and that’s too bad. The founder-owner of Atlantic Physical Therapy, arguably the most advanced practice of its kind in the region, Hammond is a straight-from- the-hip, no-nonsense kind of guy who happens to possess a heart of gold, which he just loves lavishing on his adopted community.
BERLIN - After years of taking baby steps on the long road to recovery from an inoperable brain tumor, a popular local woman, called a "medical miracle" by her doctors, is getting ready to take on a big 3.1-mile walk in New York City to increase awareness and raise funds for the National Brain Tumor Society.
Physical therapists help people who have injuries or illnesses improve their movement and manage their pain. They are often an important part of rehabilitation and treatment of patients with chronic conditions or injuries. They typically work in private offices and clinics, hospitals, and nursing homes. They spend much of their time on their feet, actively working with patients.
